Since 1977, T.H.E. Architects, Planners & Civil Engineers, Inc. has provided professional architecture, planning, and civil engineering services in Egypt and across the Middle East. Over more than four decades, the firm has developed into a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consultancy, combining architectural design, engineering expertise, planning, project management, and construction management within an integrated approach.
T.H.E. Inc. has also developed an international practice serving clients and professional firms in the United States, the Middle East, and Africa. To strengthen this international presence and build a bridge between different regions, professional practices, and cultures, the firm established a branch office in Los Angeles, California, USA, in 1988.
Today, T.H.E. continues to combine local knowledge with international experience to deliver practical, technically sound, and professionally managed solutions for a wide range of projects.
Integrated Architecture, Engineering & Planning Services
Improving quality of life through an integrated, unified approach has remained central to T.H.E.’s practice. Our role on a project can extend from the earliest stages of an idea through design, documentation, construction, and handover. As an integrated architecture and engineering practice, we provide a coordinated range of professional services, including project inception and feasibility studies, concept development, pre-design programming, schematic and preliminary design, detailed design, working drawings, construction documents, bills of quantities, technical specifications, contract documentation, site supervision, construction administration, post-construction services, and project handover.
Our teams work across architectural, civil engineering, planning, project management, and construction management disciplines, allowing technical responsibilities to be coordinated throughout the project lifecycle. We apply recognized international codes, standards, and professional procedures, including FIDIC contract principles and procedures, where applicable to project requirements.
This integrated approach allows design, engineering, documentation, and construction considerations to be addressed together rather than as separate stages, helping our clients achieve coordinated and efficient project delivery.

Experienced Leadership & Professional Expertise
The strength of T.H.E.’s practice is supported by the experience and academic background of its principals. The firm’s three partners earned degrees in architecture and civil engineering from Cairo University. Engineer Essam Fathy also holds an advanced degree in Construction Management from The American University in Cairo. Tarik Fathy and Hisham Fathy received their doctorates in Planning from the University of Southern California in the United States.
This combination of architectural, engineering, planning, and construction management expertise has contributed to the firm’s multidisciplinary approach and its ability to work across different professional and geographic environments.
International Practice Across the Middle East, United States & Africa
T.H.E. has developed an international practice spanning the Middle East, United States, and Africa. The firm established its Los Angeles branch in 1988, strengthening its ability to collaborate with construction and professional firms in the United States and support the exchange of expertise between the U.S. and Middle Eastern markets. In 2007, T.H.E. established a Grade “A” branch office in Doha, Qatar, responding to the country’s growing development sector and contributing to marina, infrastructure, recreational, and national park projects.
Across Africa, T.H.E. has worked in countries including Libya, Chad, Eritrea, Morocco, Niger, Ghana, and Sudan, collaborating with multinational companies, government agencies, and local partners on projects ranging from universities and educational facilities to industrial and commercial developments. This international experience combines professional standards with an understanding of local conditions, traditional building practices, available resources, and regional contexts, enabling T.H.E. to develop architecture and engineering solutions that are both technically sound and responsive to their environment.
